Welcome to our third monthly newsletter. We had a lot going on this month so this is going to be a bit longer than normal.
Technical Changes
We’ve changed our store software. The technical reasons aren’t that important (and maybe a bit boring) but it means we can now integrate our store on the individual pages. That means, going to Shannon Ryan’s Panic No More will have links to add that book to your cart.
We also expanded our mailing lists. Now, you can go to any of the Typewriter Press stores (Dusty, Sassy, or Broken) and sign up for the mailing list. The individual sites will only get announcements related to that page. If you sign up at the main site, you’ll get announcements across all the imprints.
For our newsletter raffle, we look at all of the mailing list subscribers to figure out who gets it. Entering more than one won’t get additional entries.
Sins of Intent by Randy Roeder
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the long, hot summer of 1968 …
Beneath the city’s air of middle class respectability, problems abound. Corruption plagues the police department, the younger set has discovered drugs, and black and white don’t like each other very much.
Cletus Efferding, a haberdasher and ballroom dancer, has just put his life back together when all hell breaks loose. A woman’s body is found in an abandoned car, and Clete becomes prime suspect in a murder case.
Sins of Intent is a muder mystery set in Cedar Rapids in the last sixties. Cletus Efferding isn’t exactly the most compentent amature detective, but it is fun to see him fumbling through solving a murder case while running afoul of old friends and enemies.
Sins of Omission
Randy Roeder has been busy gathering background material for his new novel, Sins of Omission. The tale centers on the discovery of an antique cast iron coffin in Bellevue, Iowa, in 1975. Although Roeder maintains any similarities between his story and the actual event are the product of an overactive imagination, a fair amount of research had gone into the endeavor. A recent field trip to the Kibbe Hancock Heritage Museum in Carthage, Illinois, led the discovery of a twin to the original and extremely rare casket found on an island in the Mississippi Rivier over forty years ago.
According to Roeder, “A Fisk casket looks like a mummy case. They’re extremely rare because most of them are six feet under and no one knows where to dig.”
Sins of Omission, Roeder’s newest Cletus Efferding novel, is scheduled to appear in the latter half of 2018.
